Pretty good recreation, gets within 90% of the real thing. Learned a lot from this exercise!
Edit: just blended up the latest version and it’s bang on. 99%+. Amazing!

I have always love this cologne . I’m so glad I can add this to my list of formulas. Smells very close to the original. Now I can make the and shift the ratio to where I like.

Spot on formula. Nearly indistinguishable. So valuable to see how these complex arrangements come together.

La Nuit is one of my favorites of all time. Top 5, easily. I own 3 bottles from different years. The original first release from 2009, 2011, and 2013/14. They have been mine the whole time, so they’ve been taken care of and stored properly their entire life. My favorite is 2009, of course. There was a certain magic magnificence in that bottle that’s unfathomably aromatic, passionate, sweet, and sexy. The other bottles are nothing to speak down upon, since they’re effectively unchanged. But 2009 had that certain edge that was unmatched.
This blend is practically identical to the 2009 version. Utterly sublime. As mentioned before, there’s an unmatched magic that the real 2009 bottle provides (captive?), but this formula is as close as I’ve ever seen to getting there!
As usual, there are wonderful tweaks you can make to experiment with this formula (different versions/qualities of molecules), or you can add something that is ultimately your own. I will agree with another reviewer in saying the cardamom quality is of utmost importance. It’s definitely a key ingredient. I used cardamom sourced from Guatemala that yielded wonderful results. I also feel that the patchouli is a big player, here. I used “Patchouli Dark” put I’m interested to play around with other types.
There’s so much to learn from this formula. If you’re still learning, like me, then add few ingredients at a time, be patient and wait 24 hours, then write down your thoughts. Once the whole formula is complete, wait at least one week before smelling on a strip.
