There are no surprises here, in the main structure or the fine details, but it is a good guide on how to approach this darkened vanilla theme, staying away from being too edible. The key here, which has been mentioned already in other reviews, is birch tar. The use of birch tar with vanillic notes geos back to even before Shalimar, where we find it used in for example Rallet N°1 which is the ancestor of N°5, also composed by Beaux. Thankfully a rectified product exists today so it can still be used, as I believe there was a period where it was in regulatory limbo.

Got the Mrs to smell after making it, will leave to mix then masarate for 2 months and get her to smell again. I like this already really present and love the smokey, smells also expensive. Mrs would be very happy. Just need to wait another month or so.

This is such a warm and inviting fragrance, and incredibly easy to adjust if you prefer heavier/lighter spice components. I am absolutely addicted and will reformulate this in quantity just to be able to share with friends and family

I have mixed the formula at the beginning of May and you can’t imagine how impatient I was to try it globally! I was missing two ingredients, so I was not sure what to expect.
Today I decided it is the time and I am really happy with how it turned out! Parameters are great, longevity is as good as for the original. The only thing I plan to change in the next version is to add a little bit less of Birch Tar. It was also a great learning experience that really shows how powerful birch tar is!

Like the previous comments, the juice needs to rest as the birch is indeed a bit “In the Face” at the beginning. But after maceration, it really does tone down and develop into a wonderfully seductive smokey beast of a Babycat!

At first birch tar takes it all and it’s just really smokey, but magic happened after two month of maceration

I love the smell. But the Birch is either too strong or I didn’t wait long enough. In any event this is different in a good way.
