    So simple, yet complex

This is one of those examples where you wonder when you see the basis of the formula: why didn’t I come up with this myself? It seems so simple, yet it is very cleverly created. Obviously the work of a master perfumer. This formula by CF is very, very close to the original. I didn’t have all materials when I purchased the formula, yet it smelled spot on. I own almost all materials now and there’s an updated version so I am looking forward re-making it soon. I really love the strong musky drydown in the older batches of this scent. It’s missing in the newer batches, as well as in this formula (v2, 2022). I might leave out the oakmoss and leather in the hope it smells less dated. Will leave an update later.

ETA: I believe a newer batch of Patchouli Absolu has been used for the analysis as the longevity isn’t the best on the latest/last version of TF’s PA. I own a bottle of one of the latest batches from 2020 (batch B20) and it doesn’t have that strong 10 hour long-lasting floral-musky drydown that older batches do have. In my olfactive memory it had a strong Lyral note in the drydown that’s missing in this formula but also in my original bottle from 2020. Who knows? Would be great to have the analysis done on older juice.

    Close, need longevity

This smells very nice and really close to the original. What is missing for me however is the longevity of the original which would last for 10-12 hours on my skin. This seems to last only 4 or so before fading off. I’m not sure if that is due to other additives such as sunscreens etc. in the formula to prevent degradation from light over time. Interested in seeing if others have had the same.
