I use to wear this a lot in the early 90s along with ‘Safari.’ Eventually, Tsar was gone. I still had a sample bottle from back then, and while the top notes have gone off a little, it still reminded me of those days. I was thrilled to see Filipe had this formula. It reproduces it amazingly well. A friend was visiting recently and a good friend of his loved Tsar, so he knew this scent quite well. I had him smell the one I made from this formula and his eyes got big and he exclaimed, “Oh, yes!” I used to also love a Crabtree & Evelyn scent called ‘Sienna,’ which had quite a success in the early 90s, until the company went under and many people were upset by the loss. That’s another one I’d love to see a formula for someday.

I am very impressed by this vintage formula, you’ll not find anything else these days with a very nice oakmoss scent like this. Probably the best Fougere ever made, Totally recommendable!!

This is the kind of formula that I find most interesting and enjoyable to work with. It recreates a historic fragrance that has not been made for a long time, but is loved by people who remember it. There is also no similar replacement on the market. So the formula creates a unique opportunity for enjoyment. I also love the fact that so many of the materials called for are natural oils and absolutes that blend together to produce a delightful, robust, aromatic, green and somewhat woody product. Really nice! I love to spray it on and take a walk outside. I highly recommend giving this a try.
