Wonderful formula. Smells spot on. Very complex, so be warned. But if you do mix this up you won’t be disappointed. ❤️

I am a beginner, and this formula was helpful to get a glimpse in how designer aquatics can work. After making this formula – I went on to another and quickly was able to assemble something resembling a “nautica voyage” type by changing some ratios, taking out some materials, adding some anisic notes and oakmoss. I have not worked with salicylates as much as I should, this formula was helpful seeing how they can be used to augment a perfume and lend itself to that clean, breezy, outdoors feel along with the other marine materials.
Regarding this formula – it was a blind buy, I have not smelled the original. So I have some comparing to do later which will be fun when I find this perfume somewhere. Without some of the specific materials called for, I believe I ended up making some poor substitution choices. I somehow managed to get a wet-dog note right in the heart/base of the perfume. Though it smells very fresh, this wet-dog appears after the first impact and lingers on into the drydown for quite some time, just wafting around. But it still smells good, even with my poor substitutions. It drew some compliments, and also some unconventional compliments like “who’s a good-boy!?”. . . It was me, I was the good boy.
Will have to try it again when I get the required materials, but still a success!
