Since a trip to Capri several years ago where the “paradise” hotel turned out to be a dumb, I am more skeptical towards anything with “paradise” or “royal” in the name than a typical consumer. With Cr. Perfumes, every second being “royal something”, I had to look away to open my mind. But I am delighted that I did with this – a gin-and-tonic which is really the thing that you can associate with “royalty” (perhaps more for the gin, and less for the tonic). But what is most interesting to me personally was the overdose of a couple of the ingredients which are normally just modifiers – here they are center stage! I have not smelled the original in a long time and have not compared side by side but it may be that I am missing something that bridges the weird top notes with the heart – the transitions seems a bit too sudden.
