While I am not familiar with the original, what is striking here is that this is a super elegant base of patchouli and smoke. The patchouli is almost unrecognizable but the transparent wood is – clearly a BD creation that comes across here as a master-class in what CdG is best known for. Excellent formula full of interesting details.

From the many formulas that I have purchased here this one I have blended multiple times: four times by now and it keeps smelling off from the original, more sweet as if I overdosed something (herbal). At first I thought it had to be some material that got bad (Ebanol and Javanol), but the last time I made it, it was with 100% fresh materials and still its too sweet and herbal. Filipe’s work is of high standard, therefore the problem must be my materials/blending/replacers. In my next attempt I will leave out all herbals and see from there to rule out if the base scent is dry and woody. Will post an update.

I also mixed it, I added more javanol because I thought that Felipe’s formula lacked the Javanol punch that is in the original Wonderwood, I found a lot of herbal smell due to the sage in my dilution too.
This one is around 60% similar to the original
